During the golden era of Hindi movie music (circa 1950-1980), things were quite simple and rudimentary in most fields. Hindi movie songs tended to become popular only if the movie did better, and the movies did better only if they followed certain set formulaes. Movies that tended to deviate from the standard formulae tended to fail and as a result, the songs of such movies too would suffer.

“Nayi Umar Ki Nayi Fasal” (1967) was an off beat movie and it failed at the box office. AS a result, the songs of this movie also failed to get popular with the public. In fact, most people may not have heard of most of the songs of this movie.
For instance, I was just not aware of this song from “Nayi Umar Ki Nayi Fasal” (1967). I have become aware of this song only because of a farmaish from Lalitha who has obviously heard this song before.
Here is this lovely radio song, which is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Rafi. The song is picturised on Tanuja and Rajeev.
Neeraj (who was making his debut as a lyricist in this movie) is the lyricist. Roshan is thew music director.
