The fire that took place last night at 7.45 at the Bandra Bazar Chips shop next to National Bakery and close to Clarence Gomes house has died down , the gutted shop is in shambles and I went ad shot pictures this morning ..I met Clarence Gomes too , he is upset that a guy on Twitter and Facebook is using his newspapers handle,, Bombay Times is registered Trade Mark..and Clarence as a social worker has done a lot for the Bandraites ..

My first Press Card was given to me by Clarence when the Bandra paper was called Bandra Samachar.. he rechristened it as Bandra Times and I was there at the launch with Fr Jude Mascrenhas of St Stanislaus.

It is with the Bandra Times Press card I shot the train bomb blasts and the bomb blast at Kabutar Khana I shot the Nasikh Kiumbh and many memorable events including Nag Panchami at Battis Shirala and the passing away of Late Mr Balasaheb Thackeray.

The St Peter’s Youth Social Service popularly called the YSS, was founded by Fr Douglas Rowe, S.J., on 1st March, 1970, along with the other founder members, i.e. Mr Clarence A Gomes, Fr Richard D’Souza, Mr Benjamin Saldanha, Mr Claude Baretto and Mr Jimmy Machado.

With an investment of Re. 1/- each, they totally aggregated Rs 5/- of their monthly pocket money, to establish the YSS.

The ongoing projects promoted by the YSS area subsidized Parish library, free employment bureau, blood donation camps, distribution of free text books to needy children of Bandra, organizing a Summer Holiday Club for school children.

The Organisation is now in its 38th year of its existence and much of its success attained is primarily due to the motto it follows “WE SERVE OTHERS TO SHOW WE CARE”. (read less)

Today at 8 pm I went for a launch of a local Bandra paper... Bandra Times founded by my dear friend Clarence Gomes of NAB and his wife Gloria Gomes.

Their son Stallone in Dubai is my friend too.

They had a prayer meeting and after that Fr Jude of St Stanislaus launched the first copy of the Bandra Times by opening it from the gift wrap in a red ribbon.

I shot a lot of pictures and had to rush home for Marziyas moms birthday get together , that was over when I returned.

Clarence raised a toast and as the launch was at his house 100 Bazar Road , there was a sprinkling of family and friends.
