When The Morning Dawns

carrying her child in her arms
from her distant suburban home
she sets out to Bandra to beg
the  name of Allah her lucky charm
the day is awfully humid warm
her hungry child as flies swarm
her hidden face her turbulence
her woeful existence offers no balm
her line of fate blurred on her palm
she sits wait helplessly cool and calm
welcome to my world of beggars
veiled denizens of an animal farm

These are Muslim beggars caught in a cosmic swamp ..by time battered stomped

Misplaced Motherhood

This  was shot at Bandra close to where I stay , and for a moment if you forget the mother , what are the feelings of her daughter  , no play no school just the heat and dust of begging assisting the mother on the street ..

Many of these beggar families come from the far suburb , and Bandra being an influential area , they do get alms food clothes ration too .

The people in Bandra do a lot of good work, this  I know for a fact.

But when will all this change .. when will their good days come I really dont know..

And  must make you aware in this picture the main person who might be the cause is the father of the child , dead or alive , I dont know I dont talk to beggars at all.

I shoot pictures with unanswered questions but I also know  that in the end it is the wife who suffers and not being educated I stress educated , there is no option but to beg when bad times come ..

And there is no Muslim counselling arm that could take her aside find out her problems and try to rehabilitate her to the bare necessities .

As a photographer I shoot pain as it blooms on the streetwalk....like dying shrubs growing on a rock.. they need a healer who will come touch them take stock..

Was It Fear In His Eyes ..

what was it i stood mesmerized
what had i captured a moment
on the shores of time capsized
now trying to introspect i realize
i shot his past present future
hidden behind veiled eyes
his mothers agony his mothers
angst her sufferings her sacrifice
her faceless sorrow tears dried
her humility her religiosity
her humanity ..to suffice
pictures return as stories
though elusive hope flies

a reworked art of living
giving from my archives

the flesh was unwilling the spirit strives

Yes I Am A Beggar Born

“The garden of the world has no limits, except in your mind.”
― Rumi

from a mothers defeated womb
into a defeated world i was born
when i opened my eyes the nectar
of mothers womb was gone
a darkness enveloped hope
as my mother helplessly
clutched the dying dawn
begging hands she had
unintentionally spawned
battered beaten scorned
hiding her inherent shame
in veiled captivity ..a breathing
rose clinging to a thorn ..
as she moves on and on
from one door to another door
on my cheated fate she mourns

The World Of Muslim Beggars

its true as a mystic poet
i shoot beggars on the street
muslim mothers misplaced irony
of their fate and their defeat
sitting hoping against hope
forgotten by god on his beat
i try to conjure through my
cosmic lens within her veil
her anger her helplessness
her inner angst overflowing
her black winding sheet

her little child bewildered
in wonderment tries
to plead will i
or will i not offer him
some sweets his soul
helplessly touching
his mothers feet

was it gods will
that it is beggars
on my journey
i holistically  meet
like them my fate
too i cannot cheat

i think of the hungry
in this world before
i sit at the table
open my mouth
to eat..my poetic
pathos incomplete
to a god omnipresent
i seek mercy i entreat
