In Front Of This Gate I Stood On Two Rocks For About Two Hours

In front of this gate was a steel barricade and behind the barricade I stood on two rocks to shoot Lal Bagh Chya Raja leaving his earthly estate it was tiring painful, a lady offered me some water and in sheer discomfort I shot my next lot of pictures of Lal Bagh Chya Raja..

Just before I entered this space an iron frame table crashed on my bare feet so I was hurting too..

And this lot of pictures I owe to Vikram of Lalbagh who found me this space.

I Love Shooting Photographers -Somebody Has To Shoot Them Too

146,272 items / 1,121,271 views

I like to shoot photographers at work passionately involved in what they shoot and each one goes about the task unaware of what is happening around him , than I come out from my mud hill of humility and shoot them ans add their pictures they may or may not see .

I did miss the famous Facebook 3 D photographers and Visarjan time is also a time to wave out at old friends from PSI Mumbai my camera club.. I meet a lot of people on this trek.. and some say good things to me which lightens the heart and soul.

Some brush you the wrong way deliberately throw gulal on your camera lens and humiliate you further if you bring it to their notice politely and this guy from Maulana Azad Road Ganpati that was with a bullock and Lord Ganesha was unapologetic and perhaps drunk too another of his colleague apologized on his behalf.

Lord Ganesha the remover of obstacles does not teach you to hurt others especially when he is leaving his beloved city and the Mumbaikars that he loves far too dearly.

So this is part of shooting religiosity and this happens more during Govinda when they throw water on our lenses and pelt water balloons on our cameras and we are the photographers who share your feast your faith to everyone in the World.

And in my case I am a Muslim blogger but I leave my religiosity at home and show you Hope Hindutva as a Message of Peace and Humanity in a positive way.

And sometimes even Mumbai cops are rude and impolite to bloggers because we are cousin dwarfs of media photographers ..but we shoot giants too walking the tightrope of Faith .

Hindu Muslim amity is my Flickr photostream I have shot Hinduism with the same love passion as I would have shot my own faith.. mind you our pictures we get the hard way..

Come To Think Of It

Had I not shot Ganesh Gully Ka Raja I could have entered Lalbagh Chya Raja pandal and shot the Raja moving out but I had shot it last year and this year I had decided to shoot what came my way, the security was hardcore and the entire area was jam packed ,over smart and a few rude media photographers had taken vantage position and would not give you space even if space existed..

And it shocks me but such is the way of the media barring a few journos I know.

The most cooperative guy was Prasad Sawant of Ganesh Color Lab he took me on his terrace for Lalbagh Chya Raja top shots along with a a senior photographer Mr Locke who once worked PTI and now works for Navkal.

I was barefeet , a iron stand had fallen on my feet but not much damaged done I shot a 8 GB card of the entire Visarja but I stuck to following Lalbagh Chya Raja as a devotee like the rest than a photographer , this was the only change in my mental make up, as a Muslim blogger I showed my solidarity with Inter Faith and my beloved city Mumbai,

I was a Hindu I was a Muslim think what you want I was the color of India.. that touches everyone like the winds of gulal,

I got pictures I am sure and I shot other things too, I met a lot of people , I met a Muslim man who told me the Raja had changed him and he too walks with the Raja..

From the time I was at the procession from 10 am to 11pm .. I had no urge for call of nature I am a diabetic, no urge for food or snacks but I did drink a lot of water from the fee water kiosks.

I met some great people but I am not tying to talk on my pictures you see them and fill in the blanks with your own thoughts.

Earlier I used to be highly impressed with young photographers climbing lampposts walls sheds to shoot the Lalbagh Chya Raja but I realized it is nothing but bravado, stupidity at the expense of a picture I did tell that to one of them..

Shooting pictures is about staying Alive for your parents your loved ones.

Shooting pictures is not getting blown away in a stampede and losing your high end camera , when you shoot the Visarjan you take a normal camera , you dont carry a hefty wallet or a Rolex watch or a Blackberry..

I shot two kids very young who were stealing mobile phones along with another elderly guy they were caught by the cops ..and so at the Visarjan shoot humility and common sense keeps you alive.
I think so..

Ganesh Gully Ka Raja Visarjan Journey

Lalbagh Chya Raja Visarjan Journey 2010

146,152 items / 1,120,730 views

This is my new series at Flickr I will begin uploading I shot this with passion barefeet and in all humility all these pictures of Lalbagh Chya Raja near the Gate would not have been possible with help from a volunteer of Lalbag hCjya Raja and a very dear friend Vikram, all the avenues to shoot this sequence were closed to guys had come since early morning to get a place near the gate , I was here by 10 am but got delayed shooting Ganesh Gully Raja .

Vikram found me with great difficulty and bought me near a place but the iron stand fell on my feet and it was my injured feet I was in bad shape limping he took me to this place were I shot over 50 pictures I lost count.

Than I trailed Lalbagh Chya Raja all over Lalbagh Chinchpokli Byculla and finally Do Tanki I shot the Muslims of this area felicitating the Raja but my legs were hurting me and I am a diabetic too..so I cut across Kumbharwada to catch up with Raja at Girgaum , I walked through CP tank shooting various Ganpatis but I finally realized I could not walk any further so I took the way out and caught a train home from Charni Road.

This was the crowded event jam packed and this was one of my toughest shoots I got caught in several stampedes but did not let go of my camera or my satchel.

And this is the introduction of my Lalbagh Chya Raja new series I had some very bad experinces on the way but than I took it in my stride and in situations like this people lose their cool..
The Lalbagh Chya Raja karyakartas and the volunteers gave me a lot of ground support without them my pictures would have not been possible..I shot street scenes too ..

And I did not shoot to many pictures of Lalbagh Chya Raja like old times I think as I did not get strategic positions and because of my limp my injury I could not climb high places like the young photographers and besides I think it is better to be alive and shoot next year to than too climb an electric pole or a shed , dying to get a picture is not the true message of photography.

And this too is part of my thread Hope and Hindutva a Message of Peace and Humanity.

And I dedicate this series to the selfless devoted helping hands of Lalbagh chya Raja the karyakartas and the volunteers.. and my friend Vikram,,

I have a huge back log of pictures to post and its becoming impossible as something or other crops up so I post those pictures,,Now I will have to put The GSB Seva Mandal pictures on hold as I went and shot Lalbagh Chya Raja Visarjan .

I aborted Lal Bagh Chya Raja at Do Tanki after shooting the Hindu Muslim Ekta felicitation of the Raja by Muslims of the area.

I have shot this continuously for three years as the Raja had not entered Kumbharwada I walked up to CP Tank barefeet on tired and bruised legs cut across Charni Road and took a train home.

And I got the Lalbagh Raja Gate pictures thanks to my friend Vikram of Lalbagh..
