I had shot both mother and daughter in the morning on the holiest of holy Muslim Friday ,, later at 2 pm as I was passing the Khoja Shia Mosque Bazar Road for some work at Carter Road I spotted her sitting outside the Mosque and the child fast asleep on the pavement besides her ,, she looked at me and for a moment I saw her lost world her childs lost future .
I had once asked her a few months back why she begged all she told me her husband was bedridden and they came here from the distant suburbs to beg,, if you see my Muslim Beggars of India set at Flickr she is there among the 4000 images shot by me and both my granddaughters .
She comes with another Muslim lady and both beg a lane that touches the building where I stay ..and mind you there are many like her swarming the city Mosques Shrines seeking succor and help..helplessly holding on to a drowning straw..
I give them money my wife gives them my grandkids old clothes that they have outgrown.. head scarf etc,..but that does not really help..as a street photographer street documentarist I shoot pain,,recurring pain that does not end after the few coins thrown at them in the name of misplaced Muslim charity ,, charity even charity shudders on the dead shriveled soul of Humanity .
