Dear Firoze,

I hope you are well. It was by sheer good fortune that I happened to come across one of the wonderful photographs that you had clicked of me at QAM 2009 (Ref: Album Gay Parade Mumbai, Photo 9).

I am the editor of “The Queer Chronicle” which is scheduled for release of its inaugural issue on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. The Queer Chronicle (TQC) is Pune’s own monthly e-magazine that is ‘of the queers, for the queers, by the queers’. TQC is the first city-focused e-newsletter in India that aimed at bringing together the queer community in Pune. This eMagazine is complied, edited and created only through people voluteering their time. This eMagazine is not for sale, is not for profit and is for private circulation only. Our initial estimate of online circulation is about 1000.

I was going through the same album that had my photograph and the photo title “The Diva” (Ref Album: Gay Parade Mumbai, Photo 2) really caught my attention.

I was so enamored by the intensity of the picture that, even though we have the cover designed for our inaugural issue, I really would like to use your picture instead. Of course, I would mention on Page 1 of the magazine that the picture is the copyright of the photographer Firoze Shakir.

As a fellow media person, I am very particular about copyrights and hence I sincerely request your written permission to use the said photograph. I confirm that this photograph would not be used for any other purpose, other than the fore-stated.

I look forward to getting a positive reply from you. As the photograph on Facebook is of a lower resolution, I also request you to email me a higher resolution image so that the picture can be appreciated by our readers, in all its true glory.
