on the day of chatti at ajmer
people from distant places
come and place chaddars
bow , kneel, weep in prayer
only kwajah and no other
thought to spare
rains , truant weather
nothing can stop them
or their chaddars
being displayed
on the square
in their silken chaddars
intervowen with love
is the hands that created it
unhides the craftsmans prayers
little childrens hands that did the zardozi
minute knots , their runnng noses
grumpy faces .. through the chaddar stare
unknowingly the khwajah knows
a secret with them he shares ..
