The BJP on Monday appointed Ashish Shelar, a member of Maharashtra Legislative Council, as the chief of its Mumbai unit.
Shelar, a lawyer by profession, was earlier group leader of the BJP in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
"Ashish Shelar has been appointed as the new president of the city unit for three-year term. Anil Shirole has been appointed as the new president of Pune unit," Fadnavis said.
Shelar takes over from Raj Purohit whose threeyear term expired recently.
