My Camera Bleeds More Than Me

My lens was covered with sweat blood and tears I fainted twice, my blood sugar was playing havoc with my spiritual consciousness so I removed my shirt gave my camera to a kid from Bangalore and began slashing my back leaping in the air like a wild demonic mad man.. I was very tired but I kept shooting whatever came in front of my lens ..my focusing was affected badly did not bother me the confusion chaos of my blurry images tells you the intensity of Shia pain.. and some words from my Danish friends Viola and Kim.. Viola was sad she could not enter inside Kaisar Bagh to shoot the cutting and the scourging only Glenn and Kim coul.

Firoze, my friend - it is Viola and I who are deeply honored to bear witness to such a holy happening as the Muharram. The world near to hear your story, understand your pain.

Yesterday was without a doubt one of the most intense and moving experiences of my 35 year long life, and continuing to enjoy the company of one crazy Malang like you - and now also a crazy American - is something I hold dearly.

Love and our thoughts,
Viola and Kim
