The Maharashtrians and The North Indians

Politically the North Indians or Bhaiyyas as they are colloquially called may not see eye to eye, but the North Indian migrant community is very peaceful and a stupendous work force of Mumbai.

At Banganga on Pitru Paksh day , it is the Maharashtrian ladies and their families that lay the leaf mats for the puja and are handsomely paid for it by the North Indians who have come here to appease the soul of their ancestors.

There is congeniality , warmth and camaraderie between both communities , both Hindus , both Indians above all things.

Its a pity that the leader of their State instead of building their lives is busy building statues in the wind.

If their State was well nourished and resourcefully advantageous why would they leave their birthplace to go to other lucrative States..to enhance their children s future..
the Indian constitution gives them the freedom to move anywhere in India. and protects and safeguards their lives.

But the system sucks.. less said the better..and this is a HUMAN BLOG ... this is not just a Hindu or Muslim or Christian blog..

I shoot all this to show you unity in diversity , show you an India unseen in travel brochures..my India because of the shackles on my feet is Amchi Mumbai.. the throbbing heart beat and the vibrant pulse of a nation..

I have just begun my 29 fast of Ramzan..hopefully tomorrow I shall shoot the Idd Namaz and the festivities..

My 8 year old nephew Shayan Shakir too has undertaken a fast..he is the confluence and amity of the two great rivers of India Hinduism and Islam..Shayans maternal great grand father was Late Justice Dighe who passed away recently ..his mother Shivani is married to my kid brother Firdaus Shakir.

This happens only in India..
