Motherhood in Pain

she is a leper mother
a disease that took her unaware
her body ravaged
miseries of flesh
its paper like wear and tear
her eyes worm eaten sockets
her two normal children
add to her domestic despair
a girl a boy her motherhood
equally share
her doting eyeless care
on this wonderful pair
as she sits and chants
invoking the lord
her looks that even
god could not spare
angels fear to enter
where leper beggars dare
at bandra bazar road
a mother and her motherhood
in a snare
but there are very few that really care
some curse her some also swear
she is evil they say
beware paying for her
past sins the karmic wheel broken
in need of repair
even children her sight
does scare
her children go to a municipal school
a better life for them she prepares
her pain in public she does bare
wordless wounds wearing out
