he had jumped
from the fifteenth floor
because she would
not reciprocate his love
she loved another man
she had told him before
but he would not give
up he kept banging
his head at her
hearts closed doors
love is a dangerous
emotion ..unknown
to itself what next
is in store ...
outside the municipal
hospital he waits
broken bone sore
but his spirit unflaggingly
his next move ready

left overs
of iftar time
with their
loved ones
they share
some coins
from those
in a hurry
to break
their fast
time for
prayers
come eid
the same
old clothes
to wear
unless
some good
soul gives
them a
new pair
a new
comb
to brush
their hair
no new

their kids
playing
out there
a kind
uncle
gives
them
a handful
of eclair
at home
no sheer
korma
no biryani
no fanfare
with the
money
earned
the roof
to repair
perhaps

their angst
a pain
of unliving
unloving 'i try

awaiting
a healing
touch
a soothing
godly
caress

The Woman's Tale ..
carrying empty dabbas
to the market for resale
her body weak her spirits
frail..slow and steady
but not a snail,,truth
is tough truth prevails
to make ends meet
the beaten trail..
surmounting pressures
she must avail..
do or die work travail,
see her picture hear
her silent wail..
as life pales
her only concern
she must not fail
