Bandra in the old days was butcher land , this side of the Bandra West Station , known as Compound and Shastri Nagar , it had the most famous abattoir which was shifted to Deonar Chembur end.
So even now there are lot of butchers here , the Bakarkasab Jamat is very famous doing great social work for members of their community.
There is a mutton beef chicken market at Bandra Bazar, and a few butchers have gone into the catering business , but the actual caterers doing competitive business are North Indian Muslim migrants from Uttar Pradesh.
