Mother Protect Me She Said

much before
i was born
they wanted
me dead
not spared
as a young girl
or as a bride
a ransom
on my head
burnt for
not bringing
dowry for
commercial
exploitation
i was wed
sometimes
thrown out
on the streets
by my in laws
i begged to
earn my bread
it was not me
but the goddess
in all women
they mercilessly
bled ..sometimes
from the fire
the frying pan
of life i fled
like father
like son
it is the
evil in
man
that
across
humanity
widespread
oh protect
me mother
the bleeding
vermilion
color dark
red ..spare
my little child
kill me instead
