Oh Mama Why Are We So White ..

why do they laugh
jeer throw coins
at us out of fright
oh mama take me
away from here
i hate this sunlight
i love my dreams
i love the pillow
i love the night
i hate everything
bright ..it hurts
my eyesight ..

this picture
never left me
cursing my
camera
my wingless
poetic flight
an insult
to injury
buying
creams
that make
your dusky
skin fair
lovely
alright
white here
is not
beautiful
but painful
no respite
stigma
taboo
outright
albinism
the other
side of
midnight

Fair And Lovely ,,

is a great curse
the albino family
begging for alms
at the foothills
of haji malang
from bad to worse
mocked by other
kids of their age
for being goras
not one of us
pretty white
pinkish faces
wide and wondrous
the glaring sun their
worst enemy marring
their wholeness
human yet devoid
of soulfulness

The Muslim Man..

during the
elections
they seek
 him out
make promises
to change his lot
they vociferously
shout loud and profound
after the elections a piece
of rubbish used abused
they throw him out ,,politics
of appeasement the opposition
mouths ,,the poor muslim
living in ghettos ..within
without ,...the muslim angst
helpless without a doubt
led by agents to the booth
by political touts ..over and out
back in the limelight when
a riot sprouts..i d rather be
a muslim in maharashtra
than a muslim in uttar pradesh
something to think about

ps giving him rs 5 lac.. they buy him out ,,,

Will Her Life Change After The Elections ,,,

or will she
still be begging
at delhi's crossroads
her school of life
her classroom of
learning ,, her home
her abode ..on her
frail shoulders
the extra burden
of her familys load
which political
party will educate
her reform her
rehabilitate her
at the moment
all in silent mode
omerta silent code
my india is of
the rich by the rich
for the rich a
thought explodes
elections only
benefits
the netas
the babus ..
the corrupt
the scamsters
a bitter pill
on an empty
stomach
swallowed

So Many Elections Have Come And Gone

but what they
promised so
eloquently in
their passionate
speeches has
yet to be born
once they sat
on the saddle
of power what
little hope that
i held on too
already gone
the rising price
of onions essential
commodities water
bill power bill
life goes on
oh mother india
shut your eyes
your daughters
raped ..acid thrown
on their faces
their deaths i mourn
the tiranga weeps
hung upside down
tattered and torn
death and democracy
a new day has dawned

Hey Photographer ,, Spare Me Some Coins

but dont steal my soul
my paper thin highly
breakable soul..
trying to grow up
like a creeper on
a wall this delhi cold
there is a nip in
the air ..a new
day unfolds
a bubble like
life of my misfortune
in its trembling palm
hot embers of coal
that lady luck holds
working on this
wretched traffic
signal i am five
year old...

i shot her picture
life like her daring
her innocence bold
